Mizoram: Mizo pop sensation Feli Fanai passes away at 33
Digital desk: After a protracted illness, Feli Fanai, one of Mizoram's most well-known pop artists, passed away in Aizawl on Wednesday at the age of thirty-two.
During her ten-year career, Fanai won multiple awards, such as the Mizoram Entertainment Award for Iconic Artist of the Year 2020, the Production House People's Choice Award for 2020, and the Lelte Award for Best Singer of the Year 2018. She was buried early on Wednesday at Ebenezer Hospital in Aizawl.
According to reports, Fanai was taken to the intensive care unit at Aizawl Hospital in December 2024. Reports state that she was on ventilator support after experiencing numerous organ failure issues.
The family stated on social media, "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Feli Fanai due to a prolonged illness."
Champhai, the town where Fanai was born and raised, will host her final ceremonies on Thursday.
Her albums Tuma'n An Tluk Lo (2020) and Fam Khawlawi (2013) are credited with helping to pioneer neo-Mizo pop.
As condolences flood in, fans lament her passing. After a quick halt in Aizawl, her body would be transported to Champhai.
