Mizoram CM Lalduhoma testifies in defamation case
Digital Desk: In a significant development, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma appeared in court today for cross-examination in connection with two defamation cases which the Mizoram Chief Minister filed against an MNF party worker.
The hearing, which lasted nearly four hours, focused on two criminal complaints: one regarding alleged defamatory statements about a 2013 shooting incident, and another concerning accusations of an extramarital affair.
This is to be mentioned here that, the first case, filed on May 9, 2023, alleges that Spa Jongte, an MNF party worker, used a fake Facebook profile to spread defamatory statements about Lalduhoma regarding a shooting incident at Sihhmui, Tlawng River, on December 7, 2013.
The second case, filed in 2020, pertains to allegations made by the Dawrpui Joint Action Committee (JAC) in Aizawl, claiming that Mizoram CM Lalduhoma was caught having an affair with a woman.
During the hearing, defence counsels questioned Lalduhoma on the details of the allegations and his statements.
