Nandini Kashyap Hit and Run Case: Late Samiul's Maternal Uncle claims USTM Chancellor tried to Bribe
Digital Desk: New details have emerged in the aftermath of the July 25 Dakhingaon accident case, which resulted in the death of 21-year-old Samiul Haque and was reportedly caused by Nandini Kashyap, implying that both the police and the government attempted to shelter her from legal consequences.
In a news conference on Thursday, the maternal uncle of late Samiul, who died in the accident, claimed that the police originally wanted to protect Nandini Kashyap.
The family members of the late Samiul Haque have now come forward with severe charges of police cover-up, harassment, and a bribe offer to settle the case.
In a surprising disclosure, USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque was also implicated by Samiul's uncle. He claims that on July 28, he was brought to USTM by Hoque's assistant, Biswajit Das. Hoque allegedly called Nandini in front of him and then offered the family Rs 5 lakh in three payments in return for dropping the case.
He further stated that Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), was complicit in the endeavor to suppress the situation.
According to the family, government officials had already taken testimonies from four witnesses the night of the accident. However, when the situation became more serious, they were forced to make amends.
According to Samiul's uncle, police personnel requested paperwork and mobile phones rather than submitting the complaint. The family stated that the Dispur Police contacted them later to attempt to arrange a settlement.
According to them, Nandini Kashyap's father even promised to fund Samiul's medical expenses.
Samiul's uncle told the reporters, "The Chief Minister's recent statement has given us courage." Previously, we believed that the law primarily benefited the wealthy. However, we now believe that justice is also feasible for us."
He recounted how witnesses had dialed 100 as soon as the accident occurred, describing the events of the deadly night. After connecting to the Odalbakra Police Station, the Bhagadattapur Outpost was notified. Following this, later, the Dispur Police finally arrived at the scene of the accident.
