With the inauguration, Aizawl is now firmly established on India's railway map, as Sairang, Mizoram, is now directly connected to Delhi via the Rajdhani Express.
Speaking at Lengpui Airport, the prime minister expressed regret that bad weather had prevented him from travelling to Aizawl but claimed to have sensed the love and warmth of the locals even from a distance.
The Prime Minister praised the people of Mizoram for their long-standing contributions to the country during his speech. The people of Mizoram have always stepped up, whether it is in the fight for independence or in the development of the country. "The core values of Mizo society are sacrifice and service, courage and compassion," he stated.
Additionally, Modi used the occasion to attack opposition parties, accusing them of engaging in vote-bank politics. Some political parties spent a lot of time concentrating solely on areas with a higher number of votes and seats. This mindset caused severe harm to the entire Northeast, including Mizoram. "Our government takes a different approach—we put underserved and marginalised communities at the forefront of development," he said.
A new chapter in Mizoram's development has begun with the opening of the railway line, which has been warmly received as a symbol of connectivity, inclusivity, and integration.
