PM Modi announces ex-gratia after Vadodara bridge collapse kills 9 and injures 6
Digital Desk: A piece of the Gambhira bridge fell in the Padra area of Gujarat's Vadodara district on July 9 morning, killing at least nine people and injuring six.
According to Vadodara Collector Anil Dhameliya, nine bodies have been retrieved so far during the rescue operation, while six injured people have received medical treatment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Wednesday that the PM National Relief Fund would pay compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the victims in the Vadodara bridge collapse. The injured would receive Rs 50,000.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed regret over the deaths caused by the Gambhira bridge collapse in Vadodara's Padra region and urged an immediate probe into the tragedy.
CM Patel urged authorities to prioritize treatment for the injured.
"Instructions have been given to communicate with the Vadodara Collector to arrange immediate treatment for the injured and to arrange for it on priority," according to the message.
He also stated that units from the fire department, Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had joined rescue and relief efforts.
Furthermore, rescue operations are still underway.
