Pahalgam Terror Attack: At least 26 civilians killed in attack; PM Modi holds meet

Digital Desk: In the biggest terror attack to hit Jammu and Kashmir in recent history, terrorists opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam yesterday, killing 26 and wounding numerous more. The incident also claimed the lives of an Intelligence Bureau officer and a Navy officer.

Since the location is only reachable on foot or horseback, military helicopters were called into action to evacuate those hurt in the attack. Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Nalin Prabhat briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah upon his arrival in Srinagar last evening.

In response to yesterday's terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India from Saudi Arabia, cutting his two-day trip short, and arrived in Delhi on Wednesday morning.

According to the PTI news agency, PM Modi met with the foreign secretary, the external affairs minister, and the national security advisor at the airport as soon as he arrived from Saudi Arabia to discuss the situation in light of the Pahalgam terror assault.
