Pakistan refuses IndiGo plane entry amidst hailstorm

Digital Desk: A recent incident involving an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Srinagar has raised eyebrows, highlighting the complexities of air travel between India and Pakistan.

On May 21, 2025, flight 6E 2142 encountered a sudden hailstorm, prompting the pilot to request permission from Lahore Air Traffic Control to briefly enter Pakistani airspace to avoid turbulence.

However, the request was denied.

The flight, carrying over 220 passengers, including five Trinamool Congress MPs, faced severe turbulence while flying over Amritsar.

The pilot's attempt to divert into Pakistani airspace was an effort to ensure passenger safety, but Lahore ATC's denial forced the aircraft to continue on its original flight path.

As a result, the plane encountered intense turbulence, causing panic among passengers.
