Patanjali announces plan to set up oil palm mill in Mizoram
Digital desk: Patanjali Foods Ltd. has announced plans to establish a new oil palm mill in Mizoram. The mill would be situated in Liapha, a region in Lawngtlai district, southern Mizoram, according to two top Patanjali officials who met with Chief Minister Lalduhoma in Aizawl. The mill should be up and running in a year, according to the company.
Patanjali intends to purchase oil palm from regional farmers in the districts of Serchhip, Lunglei, Lawngtlai, and Siaha in addition to the mill.
The Chief Minister expressed worry about the difficulties oil palm growers in these southern areas experience, especially with regard to support and cultivation. Additionally, he discussed the state's plan to increase oil palm cultivation in these regions, guaranteeing improved sustainability and growth for local farmers.
The state's larger objectives to improve the agriculture sector are in line with Patanjali's dedication to advancing oil palm production.
The company representatives ensured the chief minister that they would take proactive steps to encourage the growth of oil palm cultivation in Mizoram, particularly in the southern districts, as part of this program.
Oil palm has grown in popularity because of its extended shelf life and versatility in the manufacturing of food, cosmetics, and biofuels.
About 36% of the oils made from oil crops worldwide are palm oil. Because it is simple to stabilize, preserve flavor consistency, and add texture to processed goods, food makers utilize it extensively.
Beyond its use in industry, palm oil offers further benefits. It contains antioxidants with specific health benefits, such as tocotrienols and carotenoids.
These antioxidants can strengthen the immune system and help shield the body's cells from harm. Additionally, carotenoids transform into vitamin A, which is essential for heart and vision health.
Tocotrienols may also lower the risk of stroke, enhance brain function, and decrease the course of dementia.
