Prohibitory order for two months imposed around Raj Bhawan in Guwahati; violators to face penalty
Digital Desk: In accordance with Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Guwahati Police District) has issued a prohibitory order that limits public activities within five kilometres of Raj Bhawan, the Assamese governor's official residence.
Certain activities near Raj Bhawan could present security risks and disrupt the sanctity of the high-security zone, according to the order signed by DCP Amitabh Basumatary, APS.
The directive will be in effect for the next two months after going into effect immediately on September 3. Under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), any infraction of the order will result in punishment.
The directive forbids any kind of public assembly, protest, rally, or demonstration in the vicinity of Raj Bhawan. Additionally prohibited are fireworks, loudspeakers, and any other devices that produce noise. Any construction or disruptive activities in the area, as well as the unapproved movement of people or vehicles, have been prohibited.
Those who object to the proposed order may also submit written objections to the DCP office in order to have it changed or revoked.
