Rahul Gandhi to visit Guwahati on October 17 to pay tribute to Zubeen Garg
Digital Desk: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will visit Guwahati on October 17 to pay tribute to acclaimed vocalist Zubeen Garg, a Congress spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
"Gandhi will visit Guwahati to honour Assam's beloved artist and people's voice, Zubeen Garg," said Bedabrata Bora, chairperson of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee's Media Cell.
Gandhi is likely to visit Sonapur, where Garg's final rites were performed, and then pay respects to the singer's family at his residence.
The APCC Media Department, which is coordinating the visit, stated that all required measures have been taken to guarantee that the programme runs smoothly and orderly.
Garg, 52, died on September 19 while swimming in Singapore. The Assam government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the circumstances of his death.
The party stated that Gandhi's visit illustrates the great regard and emotional attachment that people in Assam have with Zubeen Garg.
