Rupkamal Kalita present in final moments of Zubeen's death, likely to appear before CID today

Digital Desk: Rupkamal Kalita, one of the eight people who were with singer-actor Zubeen Garg during his last hours in Singapore, is expected to appear before the CID today, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Meanwhile, seven other people have not yet replied to the investigation team's summons.

Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Sarma stated that Kalita, who was on the yacht when Garg drowned on September 19 while swimming in the sea, has attested to his cooperation and is anticipated to arrive in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister went on to say, though, that the other seven have not yet expressed any interest in helping with the ongoing investigation. "We'll continue to put deadlines on them. The sooner they arrive, the sooner we can complete the investigation. We hope to encourage them to cope with us," Sarma stated.

Additionally, he was hopeful that Kalita's cooperation would encourage the others to do the same. He remarked, "We think that if one comes, the others will follow."

Since the case is covered by the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT), Assam Police will not travel to Singapore to conduct an investigation into Zubeen Garg's death. Authorities in Assam will be provided with the evidence gathered by Singapore Police.

The incident and events surrounding the death have drawn public attention and calls for transparency, and the CID's Special Investigation Team (SIT) is looking into them.
