Schools in Sikkim to remain closed on June 10 to commemorate the swearing-in of CM
Digital Desk: All public and private schools, universities, and academic institutions in the Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) jurisdiction will be closed on June 10, 2024.
However, the decision was made to accommodate the security procedures and traffic limitations required for the Hon'ble Chief Minister's and Council of Ministers' swearing-in ceremony.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Paljor Stadium in Gangtok, necessitating substantial planning to ensure the event's safety and smooth execution. As a result, vehicle traffic will be severely restricted, leading to the closure of educational institutions for the day.
The authorities have emphasized that this closure is only for the swearing-in ceremony and that normal academic activity will resume shortly afterwards.
