Shreya Ghoshal & Papon to Honour Zubeen Garg in ICC Women’s WC: Fan Club Members to Get 5K Free Tickets
Digital Desk: Devajit Saikia, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and Tridib Konwar, General Secretary of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA), held a joint press conference to discuss the ICC Women's World Cup cricket matches scheduled in Guwahati.
The ICC Women's World Cup will go off on September 30 at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, coinciding with Ashtami Puja.
The match will begin with a special 45-minute homage to the late, famous musician Zubeen Garg, whose untimely death has had a significant impact on the Assamese community.
Bollywood singing sensation, Shreya Ghoshal, will play the theme song and lead the tribute during the opening ceremony.
Renowned artist and beloved brother of Zubeen Garg, Angaraag Papon Mahanta, will also attend the ceremony and perform an homage to Zubeen Garg. Papon, during an event, once said while just casually singing that he (Zubeen) is his brother from another mother.
In honor of Zubeen Garg, ACA will provide 5,000 free tickets to members of the Zubeen Fan Club. These tickets will be available at Nehru Stadium on September 29 in the morning.
Guwahati has been chosen as one of four locations in India to host the Women's World Cup matches, marking the first time Assam has won this honor. The city will host five games, with the first beginning at 3 p.m. Stadium gates will open at 12 p.m. to accommodate fans.
More tickets are still available through BookMyShow for the ICC World Cup matches in Assam, where more than 15,000 have already been sold. During the opening ceremony, guests can honor singer Zubeen Garg.
People connected to Garg's death circumstances will not be allowed to enter ACA Stadium during the games, according to BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia. This is a historic moment for Assam as it hosts World Cup matches for the first time.
