Shyamkanu Mahanta moves to a Delhi-based advocate to begin filing for Anticipatory Bail
Digital Desk: Shyamkanu Mahanta, an accused socio-cultural activist, has officially begun his legal battle in connection with the Zubeen Garg death investigation.
Mahanta has separated himself from Assam lawyers and hired Delhi-based counsel Advocate Anita Charan to represent him.
According to sources, Mahanta has already obtained a certified copy of the FIR and a full seizure list of items seized by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) via Advocate Charan.
Crucially, Mahanta has begun the process of filing for anticipatory bail under Charan's legal counsel, which comes amid Mahanta's move ahead of his expected inquiries by the CID.
Notably, Mahanta had already sought four eminent lawyers in Assam, but when they apparently declined to take up his case, he turned to Delhi to prepare his legal defense.
This development comes as the CID summons Mahanta, Siddharta Sharma, and 11 Assamese expats in Singapore to appear within 10 days, issuing lookout warnings if they do not comply.
