Statutory Resolution passed; Lok Sabha confirms imposition of President's rule in Manipur
Digital Desk: Big move! The Lok Sabha early Thursday voted on a Statutory Resolution confirming the establishment of President's rule in Manipur, with lawmakers across party lines backing the decision but criticizing the Centre for the situation in the state.
Responding to a brief debate, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the administration has taken every conceivable move to restore normality in the restive Northeastern state.
He stated that there has been no violence in Manipur in the past four months. He stated that talks were ongoing with both the Meitei and Kuki communities to find a peaceful solution.

"Overall, the atmosphere is tranquil. As long as people remain in camps, I do not consider the situation satisfactory. "The government is taking every possible step to restore peace in Manipur," he stated.
According to the home minister, ethnic violence in Manipur began in response to a high court judgment.
After moving the resolution at roughly 2 a.m., Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that there had been no violence in Manipur in the previous four months and that the situation in the northeastern state was under control.
He further stated that talks were ongoing with both the Meitei and Kuki communities to find a peaceful solution, according to ANI.
Manipur has been under President's Rule since February 13, five days after Chief Minister N Biren Singh resigned.
