Sheena Bora Murder Case 'Trial Underway': Supreme Court Rejects Indrani Mukerjea's Bail Plea
Digital Desk: On Wednesday, the Supreme Court refused to grant Indrani Mukerjea bail in connection with her daughter Sheena Bora's murder case, citing the ongoing trial.
"Bail cannot be granted while the trial is ongoing," the Supreme Court said. The top court also ordered the conclusion of the trial expeditiously.
Mukerjea, a former media executive who is the main accused in the case, was arrested in August 2015 after Bora’s murder came to the fore. She has denied her involvement in the incident.
Mukerjea, her driver Shyamvar Rai, and former husband Sanjeev Khanna allegedly strangled Bora, 24, in a car in April 2012 in Mumbai.
The body was then charred in a forest in the neighboring Raigad district, according to the prosecution. Bora was Mukerjea's daughter from her previous relationship.
The alleged murder came to light in 2015 when Rai mentioned it during a police interrogation after his arrest in a separate case.
