Digital Desk: While travelling to the revered 'Amrit Snan' at the current Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a woman from the Borhapjan area in Tinsukia district, Assam, has gone missing.

Leela Devi, the missing person, had gone to the religious event with her family to participate in the auspicious bathing ceremony.

Meanwhile, Congress legislator Gaurav Gogoi has called for a thorough investigation into the fatal stampede that occurred during the Mahakumbh Mela, citing incapacity and inadequate administration as key causes.

Saying, "Distressed to hear about the tragic news of the stampede from the Mahakumbh," Gogoi conveyed his sympathy. I offer my sincerest condolences to the families of the departed. He reacted to the authorities' failure to maintain control over the crowd by saying, "It is shocking to see how devotees coming to Prayagraj in search of divine blessings were subjected to utter mismanagement and negligence."

Demanding a "thorough investigation into the matter" and accountability for those involved, Gogoi called for prompt action.

His comments come as worries about how the huge religious celebration would be handled are growing, as big audiences need strict safety protocols to avoid mishaps.
