UPSC Exam to be held in Guwahati on May 25 under strict security measures

Digital Desk: In preparation for the impending UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination on May 25, 2025, the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, has issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

Notably, the test will be held in two sessions: 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at 26 examination centers under the authority of the Police Commissionerate, Guwahati. The exam is expected to attract a total of 10,587 candidates.

The order is intended to ensure a free, fair, and transparent examination process by restricting the admission of anybody other than candidates and authorized authorities within 100 meters of examination centers during exam hours.

Candidates with valid admit cards, authorities involved in the exam's conduct and monitoring, police personnel on duty, and approved representatives of the District Commissioner or Government are immune from this limitation.

Concerns have been raised by authorities regarding past instances of dishonest methods being employed on social media sites including Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and YouTube, as well as attempts by outsiders to obstruct the examination procedure. Preventing such malpractice and ensuring public safety throughout the examination are the goals of the prohibitory order.

Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, will be used to penalize violations of this decree.

During both exam sessions on May 25, 2025, the order will be in force. The order to implement these measures has been signed and sealed by Imdad Ali, APS, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration).
