Digital Desk: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are on extremely high alert after an encounter occurred between troops and militants in the Dudu Basantgarh region of Udhampur district on Thursday (24 April) morning, according to ANI.
Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed the news, stating that "an encounter has begun between security forces and terrorists in the Dudu Basantgarh area of Udhampur."

The area, noted for its hazardous terrain and dense forest cover, is under the control of the Indian Army's 9 Corps and shares an operational boundary with the 16 Corps.
During the encounter, a brave soldier, Havildar Jhantu Ali Sheikh of 6 Para, was killed in action along with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district.
According to official sources, the district's Dudu-Basantgarh region is currently experiencing an exchange of fire.
