Union Minister Amit Shah to hold key meet with Chief Ministers of NE states today
Digital Desk: On March 16, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will preside over an important meeting with the chief ministers of the Northeastern states while on a three-day tour of Assam and Mizoram.
According to officials, the purpose of the meeting is to examine how the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which took the role of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), is being applied in the area.
He will begin the day by traveling to Kokrajhar, where he will speak at the All Bodo Students Union's (ABSU) 57th annual conference.
Five years ago, ABSU was a signatory to the historic Bodo Peace Accord.
In order to chair the meeting with the chief ministers of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, and Sikkim, Shah will arrive in Guwahati in the afternoon.
Since Manipur is governed by the President after Chief Minister N Biren Singh resigned last month, it was not immediately clear who will represent the state in the conference.
At the meeting, each state will provide a presentation on the BNS's implementation progress to date, they stated.
Shah would leave for New Delhi at night, capping off his journey.
