Vantara agrees to Madhuri's relocation and supports her return to Kolhapur

 

Digital Desk: Vantara has released a formal statement detailing its limited role and future plans for Madhuri's care in the face of mounting public concern over the relocation of the cherished elephant, which holds great religious and cultural significance for the Jain Matha and the Kolhapur community.

Vantara underlined that its actions were strictly in accordance with directives from the Hon'ble Supreme Court and the Bombay High Court, acknowledging the emotional and spiritual connection between Madhuri and the Jain community.

The charity only functioned as an independent rescue and rehabilitation center charged with providing veterinary and logistical support under judicial supervision, the statement said, adding that "At no stage did Vantara initiate or recommend Madhuri’s relocation."

Vantara has offered full support to any legal application submitted by the Jain Matha or the Maharashtra government for Madhuri's return to Kolhapur, subject to court approval, as a show of goodwill and consideration for public opinion.

Facilities for hydrotherapy and laser therapy to relieve muscles and joints, Several bodies of water for swimming and natural mobility, lush, open habitat without chains, covered shelters for safety and relaxation, 24-hour veterinary care with a clinic on-site, The proposed facility, which will be built in the Nandani neighborhood of Kolhapur in partnership with the Jain Matha and the State Government for Madhuri, will include rubberized and soft sand resting areas to relieve pressure from foot rot and arthritis.

According to Vantara, subject to the required grants and approvals, land will be identified and implemented in consultation with the Maharashtra government and the Jain Matha.
