Wanted Pahalgam attack terrorist and top Lashkar-e-Taiba operative's House demolished
Digital Desk: On Friday, security forces demolished the home of Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guree, a key Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative wanted in connection with the recent Pahalgam terror assault, which killed 26 people.
The move coincides with a heightened assault on terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir.
Adil Guree, a resident of Guree village in Anantnag's Bijbehara district, is accused of coordinating the April 22 incident in Pahalgam's Baisaran meadow, where gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists, killing 25 Indians and one citizen from Nepal. The majority of the victims were vacationers, and the assault was so savage that it caused national indignation.
Anantnag Police have declared Guree the "most wanted" person, with a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information leading to his capture. Officials confirmed that he had legitimately gone to Pakistan in 2018, where he is thought to have received terror training before returning to India last year.
Furthermore, two Pakistani nationals have been listed as the most wanted suspects in the case.
The Pahalgam incident has caused serious international repercussions. In reaction, the Indian government closed the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari, halted the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for Pakistani nationals, allowing them 40 hours to exit the country, and announced a decrease in diplomatic staff at both High Commissions.
Protests have broken out in various locations, with demonstrators calling for more fierce retaliation and a complete diplomatic freeze on Pakistan.
As the search for Adil Guree and other agents suspected of involvement in the Pahalgam killing continues, security has been tightened in numerous areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
