Zubeen Garg’s cousin, DSP Sandipan Garg suspended after his arrest in connection with singer’s death in Singapore
Digital Desk: In response to a formal order issued on Wednesday, Assam Police DSP Sandipan Garg, the cousin of the late singer Zubeen Garg, has been suspended with immediate effect after being arrested in relation to the singer's death in Singapore.
Sandipan, who by profession is an Assam Police Service (APS) officer who is in charge of the Boko-Chaygaon co-district SP in Kamrup district, was taken into custody earlier on Wednesday (8th October) under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those pertaining to murder, culpable homicide that does not qualify as murder, criminal conspiracy, and causing death by negligence.
According to reports, Sandipan was in Singapore with singer Zubeen Garg and was on the yacht when Garg passed away on September 19 while swimming.
Additionally, a suspension order stipulates that Garg will be stationed at the Assam Police Headquarters in Guwahati upon his release from judicial custody, subject to review. The Kamrup Metropolitan district's Chief Judicial Magistrate has remanded Sandipan Garg to seven days of police custody.
