Zubeen Garg Death Case- Artists Community demands justice; Files FIR Against Shyamkanu Mahanta and Others involved

Digital Desk: Zubeen Garg's death case brings the leading Assamese artists together who were close friends of Zubeen Garg. The artist has filed a formal complaint (FIR) against Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddhartha Sarma, Sekhar Jyoti Goswami, Tanmoy Phukan, and others, accusing them of being responsible for the singer's untimely death.

Artist Ravi Sarma, Jatin Bora, Siddhartha Sharma, Dikshu Sarma, DR. Hitesh Baruah, Sasanka Samir, Jayanta Kakati, Achurjya Borpatra, Rajesh Bhuyan, senior journalist Atanu Bhuyan, actress Barsha Rani Bishaya, Prastuti Parasar, Jublee Baruah, and several others signed the FIR, which was filed at the CID Police Station in Guwahati. It offered serious accusations of negligence, felony misconduct, and even willful actions that resulted in Zubeen Garg's death during his recent trip to Singapore.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused were aware of Zubeen Garg's ongoing struggle with epilepsy but nonetheless took him on a yacht ride in Singapore, where they allegedly encouraged him to engage in water activities and dive without a safety jacket.

The FIR notes that alcohol was consumed on the yacht, and the accused failed to prevent Garg from entering the water despite knowledge of his medical condition.

Additionally, the report raises allegations of financial misconduct, stating that Shyamkanu Mahanta, allegedly with the help of certain government officials, improperly obtained significant amounts of money under the guise of promoting Assamese culture.

Furthermore, it accuses Garg's manager, Siddharth Sharma, of misappropriating funds from the singer and redirecting them into various business ventures.

Charges of murder, abetment of murder, negligence, and misusing Zubeen Garg for personal gain are among the several sections under which the artist has requested while filing the case.

According to reports, a formal complaint has been filed, claiming that a number of people who were in possession of alcohol on a yacht conspired to cause what led to singer Zubeen Garg's tragic and premature death. The complaint seeks that a case be registered against the accused under BNSS Sections 3(5), 61, 106(1), and 109.

Sections 188 of the CrPC and Section 208 of the BNSS, which give Indian courts jurisdiction over crimes committed overseas involving Indian citizens, are invoked in the FIR because the incident happened in Singapore.

The FIR has been officially received and acknowledged by the CID Police Station, Assam. With the case gaining momentum, public pressure is mounting for a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Zubeen Garg’s death.
