Zubeen Garg death case: Singapore to provide CCTV footage within 10 days

Digital Desk: In a major update in the Zubeen Garg death case investigation, the Singapore police have agreed to provide, within ten days, the CCTV visuals and statements from Assamese expats currently residing in Singapore, who may have relevant information about the case.

This was informed by Munna Prasad Gupta – the Assam special DGP and chief of the SIT probing the death case of singer Zubeen Garg.

The SIT also formally requested Singapore police to conduct a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the artist’s death and to share all related evidence, including CCTV footage from Hotel Pacific, where Garg was staying.

Briefing the media on Friday about the SIT’s recent visit to Singapore in connection with the investigation into the case, Gupta informed that the SIT has intensified its investigation with a series of meetings in Singapore, where the incident occurred.

Gupta said that the SIT delegation met officials of the Indian high commission in Singapore on October 20 to seek legal cooperation in connection with the case.

The following day, on October 21, the team held a detailed meeting with a five-member delegation of the Singapore police.

During the meeting, Singapore authorities handed over the post-mortem report of the late singer to the Indian investigators.

The SIT also visited the site where Zubeen drowned.

The SIT chief stated that sufficient preliminary data has already been obtained for the ongoing probe.

He added that certain Assamese expats may be summoned again if further clarification is required.

In a related development, the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell in Assam has registered a case of disproportionate assets against Zubeen Garg’s two PSOs.

One of them, identified as Paresh Baishya, allegedly possessed funds in his account far exceeding his official salary.

Vigilance officials have conducted a search operation at his residence as part of the inquiry.

Meanwhile, the SIT has appealed to anyone who had recently exchanged messages with Zubeen Garg to voluntarily provide information at the SIT office to aid the investigation.
