Zubeen Garg's Death; SIT team probe underway, reaches Shyamkanu Mahanta's residence

Digital Desk: In a new twist in the continuing investigation into Assam's beloved singer Zubeen Garg's death, members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrived at the home of entrepreneur and cultural activist Shyamkanu Mahanta on Thursday, September 25. However, officials have not provided any other information on the raid.

This decision comes a day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma warned the state's residents that no one would be spared in the investigation into Garg's unfortunate death.

A nine-member SIT was established in response to the directive, and it has been actively following up on leads in the case ever since. One of the first significant steps the team took as part of the investigation was visiting Mahanta's home.

The Chief Minister announced on social media that he had called a high-level meeting to review the investigation's progress with the Director General of Police (DGP) Assam, the ADGP (CID), the Chief Secretary, and other senior officials.

The Chief Minister declared, "The SIT will have complete freedom to investigate the case with complete professional integrity."

Concluding the meeting, Sarma gave the DGP instructions to assemble a Special Investigation Team with some of the most competent officers in the state.
