Digital Desk: 2025 has been termed "Gaganyaan" year by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chief V Narayanan, with the first uncrewed mission anticipated to launch by December.

V. Narayanan stated that 3000 tests are still pending and that 7200 tests have been finished thus far during a speech on Thursday in Kolkata.

"This year holds great significance for us. It is Gaganyaan year, as we have stated. We have three uncrewed missions planned before sending the humans, with the first one scheduled for this year. Work is ongoing around the clock, with over 7200 tests finished to date and over 3000 tests still waiting, as stated by V Narayanan.

ISRO plans to launch the first uncrewed mission, named "Vyommitra," in December 2025, followed by two uncrewed missions, Narayankumar said. In contrast, the organization intends to launch the first human spaceflight in the first quarter of 2027.

He also discussed the Chandrayaan-5 Mission, which is being conducted in conjunction with Japan.

The Chandrayaan-5 mission, developed in collaboration with Japan, would include a 250-kilogram rover, a significant upgrade from the 25 kg 'Pragyan' rover deployed during Chandrayaan 3.
