Heavy Rainfall alert issued by IMD for Guwahati; Extreme caution advisory added
Digital Desk: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory, predicting heavy to very heavy rain in several parts of Guwahati during the next 2-3 days.
The forecast predicts 7 to 11 cm of rainfall over 24 hours, followed by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds reaching 40-50 km/h in isolated areas.
The changing weather conditions are predicted to exacerbate waterlogging in low-lying areas, restrict vehicular mobility, and increase the risk of localized landslides, especially in vulnerable hillside zones.
In response to the changing environment, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has asked locals to exercise extreme caution.
Emergency response teams are on standby, and city officials are carefully monitoring the situation to manage any emerging difficulties.
Residents living in flood-prone or hilly locations should exercise extreme caution, as the danger of abrupt landslides cannot be ruled out.
The public is asked to closely follow the safety advice of local authorities and report any emergencies to the designated helplines.
