Hyderabad's Charminar disaster: 8 Children Among 17 Killed In Building Fire
Digital Desk: A massive blaze exploded in a building near Hyderabad's famed Charminar this morning, killing at least 17 people, including eight children and five women. While the fire's origin was not determined, a short circuit likely contributed to the catastrophe.
According to a fire department spokesman, they hurried to the scene after receiving a report at around 6:30 in the morning. The injured were sent to hospitals while eleven fire engines battled the fire.
The victims include four senior citizens: Prahlad, Munni, Rajender Modi, and Sumitra. The deceased children are Hamey (7), Priyansh (4), Iraaj (2), Arushi (3), Rishabh (4), Pratham (1), Anuyan (3), and Iddu (4). Abhishek, Sheetal, Varsha, Pankaj, and Rajini were the other people who perished.
In response to the disaster, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed shock and urged officials to increase relief efforts and make sure injured people receive the best care possible.
The scene of the event is near the famous Charminar and features a series of jewellery stores. Many of these local stores are cheek-by-jowl setups with shared walls that date back more than a century.
According to Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, the remains have been found and taken to hospitals, and the state administration will provide all the details shortly.
Responding from his helm, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that he is "deeply anguished" by the number of people killed in the fire.
