Rain can’t stop cries of Thousands; Emotional Tribute paid by Jorhat people to Zubeen Garg heavy downpour


Digital Desk: Thousands of admirers, friends, and well-wishers walked through heavy rains on Wednesday to pay their final respects to Zubeen Garg, Assam's beloved musical legend, as part of his 13-day Adhya Shradha ritual.

The late artist, who died in Singapore on September 19, is being honored in the city where his musical career began.

The ceremonial procedures, conducted jointly by the Assam government and the Jorhat district administration, began early in the morning and would last until 4:30 p.m., giving locals ample time to pay their respects to the great artist.

Garg's ashes were carried to Jorhat and placed at a public location, where they will be accessible to fans until October 4.

Zubeen Garg touched the lives of millions, the huge gathering turned out highlighting Zubeen's significant impact on the state's cultural and musical landscape. The city became a space for collective mourning, remembrance, and celebration of his life.
