Assam: Classroom education broadens! weaving added as subject to Golaghat's Kamargaon College curriculum

Digital Desk:India is transitioning to a developing mode that has improved on different levels, one of which is the latest addition in the education sector, where weaving will now be incorporated as part of the classroom education widening. The step has been inundated in Assam's Golaghat district's Kamragaon College.

Mostly, the daughters and daughters-in-law of Assam have developed their love for weaving from an early age. One such dream is now getting geared up after Kamargaon College in Golaghat included a handloom unit, achieving long-held goals. For these Assamese women, the handloom facility has evolved into an educational institution.

Kamargaon College in Golaghat district has officially added weaving to its academic curriculum for the first time in the state.

This hands-on instruction is meant to pave the way for female students to achieve independence. In the handloom unit, students act like traditional weavers, spinning yarn on a spindle and weaving with determination. A competent local artisan taught about 100 female college students.

Kamargaon College in Golaghat focuses on teaching traditional craftsmanship and business knowledge to students, aiming to make them self-sufficient.

Moreover, the students are producing traditional products like gamosas, tongalis, handkerchiefs, and chadar-mekhelas, demonstrating the college's commitment to transforming dreams into concrete opportunities for the next generation.
